D-pillar

The rearmost roof support post on a vehicle with a long cabin, such as a station wagon, SUV or minivan, located behind the rear side windows and framing the tailgate opening. It is the fourth pillar counted from the front, after the A-, B- and C-pillars, and it carries part of the roof load and rollover forces. Sedans have no D-pillar.
