Rat-tail splice

A method of joining two or more electrical conductors by twisting their bared ends together to form a pigtail-like connection. This type of splice is typically used inside junction boxes or electrical enclosures where the connection is not subject to mechanical stress or pulling forces. It must be insulated with electrical tape or a wire nut to prevent short circuits.
