Splice
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005535
To join two or more conductors, such as wires or optical fibers, permanently to establish electrical continuity or optical signal transmission. This connection can be made through mechanical means, soldering, crimping, or fusion, depending on the material and application. Proper splicing maintains the integrity of the circuit and minimizes signal loss, with specific techniques defined by standards like those from the National Electrical Code (NEC).
