Mechanical splice
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003581
A method of joining two optical fibers or electrical conductors using a mechanical alignment device rather than fusion or soldering. This technique involves precisely aligning the fiber ends and securing them with a gel or adhesive to minimize signal loss. Mechanical splices are often used for temporary connections or in situations where fusion splicing is impractical.
