Re-entry
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004746
The return of a spacecraft or other object into Earth's atmosphere from space, during which drag and compression heat the vehicle to extreme temperatures and slow it down. Designers conventionally place the entry interface at about 120 km (75 miles) altitude, where atmospheric effects first become noticeable, which differs from the Kármán line at 100 km used as the boundary of space.
