Reentrant
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004745
Describing a design feature that points inward or reverses direction, such as a corner or angle directed into the body of a part. In honeycomb core structures, a reentrant cell configuration exhibits a negative Poisson's ratio, meaning the material contracts laterally when stretched. This auxetic behavior is distinct from conventional materials, which expand laterally when stretched.
