Rod
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004900
A tool for clearing blocked drains, made of short segments, usually about a metre long, that screw or clip together into a long jointed shaft, with connectors designed to stay locked when the shaft is turned. The assembled rod is fed into the drain from an inspection point and pushed or turned to break through a blockage, with a plunger, scraper or screw head fitted to the leading end. It differs from a drain auger, which is a continuous coiled cable turned by a crank or motor.
