Fascet

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002180

A conical or cylindrical tool, traditionally made of iron, used in glassmaking to shape the neck of a bottle or other vessel. After the main body of the glass is formed, the hot, pliable neck is inserted into the fascet, which is then rotated to give the opening its final, uniform shape. This tool was a precursor to more complex, automated bottle-forming molds.
