Rode

The line or chain connecting an anchor to a vessel. It transmits the holding power of the anchor to the boat, keeping it stationary. The length and material of the rode are selected based on factors such as water depth, seabed type, and anticipated weather conditions, with a common scope ratio being 5:1 to 7:1.
