Runround
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005012
A secondary track or loop of railway line that allows a locomotive to detach from its train, move past it, and re-couple to the other end. In mining and industrial settings, this arrangement facilitates the reversal of a train's direction of travel without needing a turntable. Runround loops are common at terminal stations, loading points, and sidings where shunting operations are frequent.
