Push-pull
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004593
A mode of train operation where the locomotive remains at one end of the train for travel in both directions. When the locomotive is at the front, it pulls the train; for the return journey, the driver controls the locomotive remotely from a cab in the rearmost passenger car, which pushes the train. This method avoids the need to reposition the locomotive at terminal stations.
