Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005164
A serializer/deserializer, a pair of functional blocks that convert data between serial and parallel interfaces. The serializer converts parallel data into a serial stream, while the deserializer converts the serial stream back into parallel data. This technology is used to reduce the number of data paths and pins required for high-speed data transmission over long distances, such as in PCI Express and Ethernet.
