A rectangular, dressed paving stone, traditionally made of granite, used for creating durable road surfaces and walkways. Setts are distinguished from cobblestones by their quarried and cut rectangular shape, which allows them to be laid in regular patterns like herringbone or stretcher bond. A typical sett has dimensions around 4 inches by 4 inches by 8 inches, though sizes vary depending on the application and historical period.
