Spicatum

A pattern of arrangement where rectangular components, such as bricks, tiles, or wood blocks, are laid in rows of slanting parallel lines. Each row slants in the opposite direction from the one next to it, creating a distinctive V-shaped or herringbone effect. Known in Roman architecture as opus spicatum, this pattern is valued for its structural stability and decorative appearance in masonry, paving, and parquet flooring.
