Coursing joint

The horizontal mortar joint between successive courses of masonry units in a wall. This joint provides a level bed for the next layer of bricks, blocks, or stones and contributes to the structural integrity of the assembly. The thickness of a coursing joint typically ranges from 3/8 inch to 1/2 inch.
