Cross-halving joint

A woodworking joint where two pieces of timber cross each other, and half the thickness of each piece is removed at the intersection. This creates a flush surface where the two pieces meet, maintaining the overall thickness of the combined members. It is commonly used in framework construction for strength and a neat appearance.
