Mortise-and-tenon joint

A traditional woodworking joint consisting of two components: a mortise, which is a hole or slot cut into one piece of wood, and a tenon, which is a projecting tongue cut on the end of another piece. The tenon fits snugly into the mortise, creating a strong and durable connection. This joint is widely used in furniture making, door construction, and timber framing.
