A scheduled period of work for a group of employees, particularly in industries that operate continuously or have extended hours, such as construction sites or manufacturing plants. Workers rotate through different shifts, such as day, night, or swing shifts, to maintain operations. A typical shift duration is 8 to 12 hours.
