SIR
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005305
A quantitative measure of electrical resistance, known as Surface Insulation Resistance, used to assess the cleanliness and reliability of printed circuit boards (PCBs). The test involves applying a DC voltage across a specific pattern of conductors on the board's surface and measuring the resulting leakage current. A high SIR value, measured in ohms, indicates a low presence of ionic contaminants that could cause corrosion or short circuits.
