Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005320
A rough dressing of quarried stone in which knobs and projections are knocked off the surface of a block to bring it roughly to shape. The result is a coarse face rather than a smooth one, which a mason would finish with finer tools if a smoother surface were wanted, and the operation is also called knobbing.
