A category of advanced nuclear fission reactors that are smaller in size and power output compared to conventional gigawatt-scale reactors. A Small Modular Reactor (SMR) is designed to be factory-built and transported to a site for installation, offering potential for scalability and reduced construction time. SMRs are defined by the International Atomic Energy Agency as having an electrical output of up to 300 MWe.
