Spectral gating
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005509
A signal processing technique used to isolate and analyze a specific portion of a signal in both the time and frequency domains simultaneously. A gate, or window, is applied to a time-frequency distribution, such as a spectrogram, to select a particular signal feature for further examination or filtering. This method is applied in fields like audio restoration to remove transient noises or in vibration analysis to identify intermittent mechanical faults.
