Notch

A type of filter in electronics that attenuates a specific narrow band of frequencies while allowing frequencies outside this band to pass through relatively unaffected. These filters are often used to remove unwanted interference or hum at a particular frequency, such as 60 Hz power line noise. A common application is in audio equipment and medical instrumentation.
