Notch
Term · Semiconductors · MLC-T-SEM-000231
A small, V-shaped or U-shaped indentation cut into the edge of a semiconductor wafer, serving as a primary orientation reference for automated handling and alignment during fabrication processes. This physical mark indicates the crystal orientation of the wafer, such as the flat of a silicon crystal. Wafers larger than 150 mm typically use a notch instead of a flat.
