Edge computing

Term · Semiconductors · MLC-T-SEM-000104

A distributed computing paradigm where data processing and analysis occur near the source of data generation, such as on or near the manufacturing equipment in a fabrication plant. Instead of sending raw data to a centralized cloud or data center, computation is performed locally to reduce latency and network bandwidth consumption. This approach contrasts with cloud computing, where data is transmitted to remote servers for all processing tasks.
