A form of illumination, known as Solid-State Lighting, that generates light from a semiconductor device rather than from a filament or gas. This technology primarily uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to produce visible light when an electric current passes through them. SSL devices offer greater energy efficiency and much longer operational lifespans, often exceeding 25,000 hours, compared to traditional incandescent and fluorescent lighting sources.
