Stag-headed

Describing a tree that has dead branches or a dead crown, particularly at the top, while the lower parts of the tree remain alive. This condition indicates stress, disease, or old age, where the tree's ability to transport water and nutrients to its upper canopy is compromised. Stag-headedness is a common symptom of decline in mature trees.
