Stereotype

A duplicate printing plate made from a mold of an original type form or engraving, typically cast in metal. This plate allows for multiple copies of the same form to be printed simultaneously or for the original type to be preserved. Stereotypes were widely used in letterpress printing for long runs of newspapers and books.
