Stop the job
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005676
To bring all train movements on a line or section to a complete halt, for example because of an emergency or safety problem. The expression is colloquial British railway usage for stopping every train, not just slowing it, and the stoppage lasts until the cause has been dealt with and traffic is cleared to move again.
