Stressable

Relating to a structural component, particularly a steel tendon or bar, designed to be tensioned in a post-tensioning or prestressing system. The component is placed within a concrete member and then stretched using a hydraulic jack, inducing a compressive force in the concrete that increases its strength and ability to span long distances. The force applied is specified by the structural engineer and measured during the stressing operation.
