Stud finder

An electronic device used to locate the framing studs, joists, or other structural elements hidden behind drywall or other wall coverings. It typically uses sensors to detect changes in density or electrical capacitance, indicating the presence of a solid object. Modern stud finders can also detect live electrical wires and metal pipes.
