Tailpipe

The final section of a vehicle's exhaust system, extending from the muffler or catalytic converter to the rear of the vehicle. Its primary function is to direct exhaust gases away from the passenger compartment. The design and diameter of the tailpipe can influence exhaust sound and back pressure.
