Taper

A gradual and uniform change in the diameter or thickness of a workpiece along its length, resulting in a conical or wedge shape. Tapers are often used to create secure, self-aligning fits between components or to provide a lead-in for assembly. They are specified by their angle or by the difference in diameter over a given length.
