Tie-up
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006008
A temporary stoppage or delay in a production line, supply chain, or transportation network that restricts the flow of materials or products. A tie-up results in a bottleneck, reducing efficiency and potentially halting operations upstream or downstream from the point of congestion. This differs from a planned shutdown, as it is an unscheduled disruption caused by equipment failure, material shortages, or logistical problems.
