Tie
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006004
A measurement made to locate a survey point in relation to other points or features, confirming its position. A tie connects a new survey monument or a point of interest to nearby permanent objects or established control points, providing a redundant check on its location. These measurements, which can be angles, distances, or both, are recorded in field notes and are distinct from the primary measurements used to establish the point's coordinates.
