Time of origin

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006021

The precise instant that an event, such as a signal transmission or a physical phenomenon, begins. This value serves as the primary temporal reference point from which all subsequent measurements, like propagation delay or event duration, are calculated. Time of origin is recorded in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and is a fundamental parameter, along with location coordinates, for characterizing events in distributed sensing and navigation systems.
