Time stop
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006022
The electronic signal that marks the end of a time interval measurement in techniques like time-of-flight mass spectrometry or time-correlated single photon counting. This signal is generated when a particle or photon arrives at a detector, halting a time-to-digital or time-to-amplitude converter that was initiated by a corresponding start signal. The precision of the time stop signal directly influences the temporal resolution of the measurement system.
