Toe

A method of fastening two pieces of wood together by driving a nail or screw at an angle through the end grain of one piece into the face grain of the other. This technique provides a secure connection where direct face-nailing is not feasible or desired. Toe-nailing is frequently used in framing for attaching studs to plates.
