Describing a nail or screw driven at an angle through one piece of wood into another, rather than straight through. This technique, known as toe-nailing, is used to secure framing members where direct nailing is not feasible or to provide additional resistance against withdrawal or racking. It is a common method for attaching joists to beams or studs to plates.
