Transition time
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006143
The time a signal takes to move between its two logic levels along a single edge, measured between specified thresholds such as 10% and 90% of the amplitude. It is called rise time for a low-to-high edge and fall time for a high-to-low edge, so a signal has two transition times rather than one combined figure. Logic datasheets limit the maximum input transition time because slow edges can cause oscillation and excess supply current.
