Negative edge
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003869
The transition of a digital signal from a high voltage level (logic 1) to a low voltage level (logic 0). This falling edge is used by many synchronous digital circuits, such as flip-flops and counters, as a trigger to sample inputs and change their output state. In timing diagrams, the negative edge is depicted as a downward-sloping or vertical line from the high state to the low state.
