Tripcock

A mechanical device mounted on a train that interacts with a trackside trip arm to automatically apply the brakes if the train passes a signal at danger. This safety mechanism is a form of automatic train protection, preventing trains from overrunning signals. It is commonly used in subway and urban rail systems.
