Unberth
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006314
To move a spacecraft away from a passive docking port or fixture on a space station or another vehicle, typically with the assistance of a robotic arm. This action contrasts with undocking, where a spacecraft separates under its own power from an active docking mechanism. The unberthing process is a carefully choreographed maneuver that places the vehicle at a safe distance before it begins its departure trajectory.
