Underactuate

To design a mechanical system with fewer independent control inputs than its degrees of freedom. This characteristic means that not all motions can be directly commanded, requiring more complex control strategies to achieve desired movements. Underactuated systems are common in robotics and aerospace applications, such as helicopters and mobile robots.
