Windthrow

The uprooting of a tree by strong winds, where the entire tree, including its root system, is overturned. This phenomenon is also known as blowdown or wind-felling. Windthrow is a natural disturbance that can create canopy gaps and influence forest succession, particularly in shallow-rooted species or saturated soils.
