Windsnap
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006620
The breakage of a tree's trunk or stem due to high winds, rather than the tree being uprooted. This occurs when the force of the wind exceeds the structural strength of the wood fibers, causing the tree to snap at a certain height. Windsnap is a common form of damage observed in forests after severe storms, particularly in stands of tall, slender trees.
