Conflict of laws

A branch of law that addresses situations where the laws of more than one jurisdiction could apply to a legal dispute. In insurance, this often arises in claims involving parties from different states or countries, or policies issued in one jurisdiction but covering risks in another. Courts apply specific rules to determine which jurisdiction's laws govern the case.
