Employee welfare benefit plans

Plans established or maintained by an employer to provide benefits such as medical, surgical, or hospital care, sickness, accident, disability, death, unemployment, or vacation benefits to employees. These plans are regulated by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) but do not include retirement or pension benefits. Examples include group health insurance and short-term disability plans.
