Ensuing loss clause
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-001323
A policy provision that preserves coverage for a covered loss that follows from an excluded cause, even though the excluded cause itself remains uninsured. For example, if faulty workmanship in a heating system, which is excluded, leads to a fire, the fire damage is covered while the cost of correcting the faulty work stays excluded. It commonly appears as an exception to the exclusions for faulty workmanship, design, and maintenance in homeowners and commercial property forms.
