Equal Pay Act of 1963

A United States federal law that prohibits wage discrimination based on sex. It requires that men and women in the same workplace be given equal pay for equal work, defined as jobs requiring equal skill, effort, and responsibility, and performed under similar working conditions. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) enforces this act, which is an amendment to the Fair Labor Standards Act.
